Visitors stay at Mississauga hotels in Ontario for many reasons. They want to be close to airports such as Toronto International and Lester B Pearson. Gambling at a local casino or touring wineries brings them too as Niagara is no great distance away. Weddings and business draw them, as many hotels offer meeting space.
When a town ages, it has to change too, to avoid stalling out, fading away. Often a town has been planted in a place to satisfy some specific cultural or economic need, and if those days pass, the town has to change its game. And the way a town does this is very important, because it says as much about the times we’re all living in as about the way a town makes decisions.
On a cold, gray morning in late January 2000, the historic Mapes Hotel in Reno was imploded by 75 pounds of explosives tucked into the art-deco structures support columns. The controlled demolition came despite years of effort by a number of groups within the community and nationally to preserve the building with lawsuits, redevelopment proposals, and grass roots lobbying efforts.
